Don Wood


Don Wood, Business Consultant

Mr. Wood provides senior advisory services in business and technology management to owners of small and medium sized businesses. Don’s experience spans from Vice President of a $2 billion petrochemical corporation and senior operating officer of a $500 million chemical company, to fostering three startups, and a variety of directorships and advisory board positions. He has been involved in acquisition, management and integration of over 10 businesses one IPO.

Don currently provides advisory services in business and technology management to owners of small and medium sized businesses, delivering the benefit of over 40 years business experience. As Vice President and senior operating officer of Marsulex Inc. Don worked with the CEO, the owners Harrowston (private equity) and Chase Bank people to develop strategies, reorganize the management structure, execute an IPO and do 5 acquisitions.

Don partnered with Dave Grant to start up CanWeb in 1995. He has provided a Business and Technology management services business for a number of years, and helped to start up an oil field instrumentation business and a nanocrystalline metals company, both operating today.

He has experience in the petrochemical and refining industry as a senior executive of Polysar Inc., where he led the creation of the petrochemical division, led the business development function and played key roles in the turnaround, acquisition and management of 100% of Polysars’ interest in Petrosar.

He led the large volume energy sales function for a large natural gas utility, and testified as an expert marketing witness at numerous regulatory hearings in the natural gas industry. He was involved with the development of the first major cogeneration project in Ontario and with the fuel selection of many major large industrial power plants in SW Ontario. Prior to that he held sales and engineering positions with a major multi-product international manufacturing company.

Don is a graduate of the Royal Military College and the University of Toronto in Engineering. In his more than 40 year career Don has a patent award and has held 6 directorship positions in privately owned companies, large and small.
